Part of the larger Edgewater neighborhood, Lakewood-Balmoral is a small neighborhood within a neighborhood.  Lakewood-Balmoral is bounded by Glenwood Avenue to the west, Bryn Mawr Avenue to the north, Magnolia Avenue to the east, and Foster Avenue to the south.

Attractions , Landmarks, and Things to Do:

Lakewood-Balmoral itself is a very small residential enclave, so you would need to go west to Andersonville's commercial heart along Clark and Foster or east the Edgewater's Bryn Mawr Historic District for entertainment and dining options.  

There is a Jewel Osco and a Mariano's just a couple blocks east in Edgewater.  In Andersonville, the Swedish American Museum on Clark Street is home to art exhibits, a historical center, a library and a genealogy center.  Hopleaf is a well renowned craft beer bar with 64 beers on tap including many rare European beers found nowhere else in the city. The Neo-Futurists Theater on Ashland has been staging their ever-changing signature show Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind, where they perform 30 plays in 60 minutes, since 1988.  

Transportation:

The CTA Red Line stops in just east on the other side of Broadway Avenue in Edgewater.  The neighborhood is also serviced by many CTA buses and is just a couple blocks from Lake Shore Drive.

Close by to:

Andersonville's commercial thoroughfare, Clark Street, is immediately west.

Ravenswood and Lincoln Square, along with the Old Town School of Folk Music, are to the southwest.

To the north and east are other parts of Edgewater, with ample lakeside park land and beaches.
